United Nations Global Compact: Communication on Progress

10.10.2016 - Safe Host reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact

Safe Host has reaffirmed its commitment to the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption. The company is continually working towards the better integration of the Global Compact and its principles into its business strategy and culture, by implementing actions accordingly.

Firstly, with regards to Human Rights, Safe Host has integrated those described in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 within its employee manual, to ensure the enactment of such rights. Safe Host also implements these rights through the issuance of an annual questionnaire, a bi-annual employee appraisal, and other undertakings, to secure the interests and rights of its employees.Firstly, with regards to Human Rights, Safe Host has integrated those described in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 within its employee manual, to ensure the enactment of such rights. The company also abides by the Labour Principles in that it has enforced written policies stating Employee rights and responsibilities, which are compliant to Swiss law regarding employment rights and audited by the ‘Office Cantonal de l’Inspection et des Relations du Travail’ (OCIRT).

Furthermore, Safe Host commits to the Environmental Principles by enacting them in a plethora of ways: a written environmental policy, participation in the EU Data Center Code of Conduct, preparation for ISO 50001 certification, as well as through the organisation of a comprehensive recycling program, advanced building environmental controls systems, and energy containment systems.

Additionally, the company is commendatory of the Anti-Corruption Principles. In supporting the UN Convention Against Corruption, Safe Host has a written policy of zero-tolerance for corruption, bribery and extortion. The annual employee questionnaire acts as a grievance mechanism for any of those issues.

In accordance with the Principles, all of the above-mentioned endeavours are measured quarterly through an ISO-9001 quality management review system. Such undertakings are testaments to the importance Safe Hosts places on the respect for the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
